Search Engine Profile: Ask

The Ask search engine is one of the most unique in how they are offering the answers that people are seeking. Those that are unfamiliar with Ask have more than likely used Ask Jeeves in the past since it was at one time the way to get answers, which is the same search engine. The Jeeves was dropped since more and more people were finding it easier to simply remember to type in Ask.com. The reason that so many people like the Ask search engine is that it allows the person to answer a question in normal language that they can find an answer to. In the days when the software was the Ask Jeeves website, the butler would be the one that ran to get the person the answer. The Butler was based off of a character from a book that the designers of the website liked. Though this was why the Ask search engine was popular in most people's minds, the ability to still type in a few terms to find search results was also popular. Now, Ask still allows for both of these options to be used by consumers, but they are also including help with math, a dictionary and other tools that were not included before.

The search engine was first released in 2006 by the InterCorp professionals, who have been dominant in the online world for the past few years. Through that time, they have made many changes, though taking away the Butler for the US version is something that many people are still sad to see go, though the other version in the UK still utilizes the Butler for finding the consumers answers for them.

Ask has come far when it comes to providing search result for people, they also now provide consumers with a bar that they can have running on their Internet or Firefox browsers. This allows people to have a search bar at their fingertips no matter what site that they are currently on. They simply type in the search bar what they want to find and the information will pop up. In addition, the search bar goes a few more steps and includes widgets and other apps that the person can use in order to personalize their results even more.

The company has went even further and is now represented in NASCAR races and so forth. Which means that the future it something that no one can predict for this search engine, as no one would have though that a search engine would have its own race car that sports their logo. There are no definite plans that the company has released for the future, however most people are assuming that they are wanting to increase their stake in the search engine world and draw in many more people that turn to their site for the information that they are seeking.
